A Modern twist on an old design

A few months ago I was asked to choose my favourite "original" products on the market today. I have to say it was pretty tough as most things I like all have a vintage vibe to them. So I wasn't sure if I they would fall into that category or not. Surely if someone has done it before then it's not original?? Anyway, this product ticks both boxes. The idea dates back to the first ever gramophone but the modern twist is pure genius! Introducing......

The Phonophone II Ipod speaker

Looks like a gramophone, sounds like a gramophone, but the difference is, you don't need records, you don't have to wind it up and you don't need batteries or electricity!

Through passive amplification, this beautiful ceramic gramophone transforms your personal music player into an audio console. You simply place your earphones into the resonance chamber (the big horn trumpet bit), and hey presto! A truly vintage sound.

Be warned, it doesn't work great with modern, electric/rock based sounds so stick to the jazz, classical, blues and folk ok?

It's available from Charles and Marie and costs 457 euro's or $600 US. Also available in black.

I am saving up!!!!!
